This event was launched for the first time last year and was a huge success. Set in my home it offers a comfortable surrounding for the workshop where we kick off at 10am with informal introductions over coffee and cake. We begin the workshop with an introduction to fungi, its role in the environment and the characteristics that are vital to identifying. This is followed by a two hour walk on Hampstead Heath (5 minutes away). On returning to my home my wife serves a four course leisurely lunch.

In terms of attire, we are walking off the beaten track in many of these walks so please have a sensible pair of walking shoes or ‘wellies’ if it’s wet weather. If it is raining I would suggest waterproof trousers as well as jackets if you have them available. Layers always work well with our unpredictable British weather too………it’s amazing how changeable the climate can be within several hours.

As a note, the wild fungi used in the lunch has been collected in small amounts by myself from a number of different sites across the UK throughout the year, therefore, resulting in a very minimal, non-discernible, impact.
